Students will leave NASH in the 3-6 am timeframe on the morning of December 27 on buses to the Pittsburgh airport, and arrive in Atlanta in the 8am-noon timeframe. They will depart Atlanta on Jan 1 in the noon-5 pm timeframe, arrive at the Pittsburgh airport between 1pm and 6pm, and be back at NASH in late afternoon/evening.
As well as marching in the December 30th Peach Bowl (game time is 7:30) half-time show and Downtown Atlanta P arade (100 units with 25,000 spectators), the band will also participate in field show competitions being held at the Georgia Dome. There will be a number of other excursions in the Atlanta area that they will attend as a group; these are expected to include visits to Coca Cola and CNN, each of which is headquartered in Atlanta. Exact details and a schedule of events will be made available once all of the arrangements are finalized and confirmed.
The trip cost includes all transportation, hotels, breakfasts, dinners, social events, security, and a private (NA Marching Band members only) New Year’s Eve party. The total cost is $1070. Optional third party trip insurance is available (see link below). On certain days the students will be responsible for the cost of their lunchtime meal.
The first payment of $350 (less fundraising credits from the Entertainment Books) was due on September 16, along with the trip registration form. Payment #2 of $350 (less credits from the Pie Sales fundraiser) was due October 14. The final payment, after credits for the Discount (“Fund”) Card and Citrus Sales fundraisers is due November 14. All payments are non-refundable once made; there is limited ability to reassign previously made payments to another student going on the Band Trip.
Although the Peach Bowl is not broadcast nationally, it will be seen live on CBS 46 WGCL in the Atlanta area, and possibly other southeastern locales (depending on which ACC and SEC teams are playing one another) - so give a call to friends and relatives in the area!
