The North Allegheny School District is proud to announce that the North Allegheny High School Marching Band has been chosen to represent the state of Pennsylvania in the 56th Presidential Inaugural Parade in Washington, D.C., on Tuesday, January 20, 2009. "A New Birth of Freedom" is the theme for the Inauguration. The theme commemorates the 200th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln's birth. The parade takes place on Pennsylvania Avenue, starting at the Capitol and ending at the White House.
The North Allegheny School District was informed of this honor last weekend and is waiting for additional details and instructions from the Presidential Inaugural Committee. It has been reported that nearly 1400 applications were received. The North Allegheny High School Marching Band is the only marching band selected from Pennsylvania and one of only 19 marching bands in the entire parade. Local dignitaries, elected officials, and other friends of the District who have heard the news have been calling to offer their congratulations.

The community is invited to make contributions to help defray the cost of the Band’s trip.
Checks may be made out to the North Allegheny School District with a note on the memo line that indicates “Marching Band trip to Inaugural Parade” and mailed to:
